For the elderly or disabled who would like to have the companionship of a cat or dog but feel that the commitment of owning a pet is too much to manage, this scheme may be the answer. Animal Concern often takes in elderly cats and dogs which often prove difficult to place in a home purely because of their age. Sometimes they come to us because their owner has sadly died or had to go into residential care. Often they are healthy and will have several more years of good quality life ahead of them.
In this scheme Animal Concern will share the responsibility with the adopter for all necessary veterinary treatment for the life of the animal and we will also accept the animal back into our care should the adopter be unable to continue caring for it.
If it is a dog we would need to ensure that the adopter would be able to arrange suitable excercise for it. If you would be interested and think you would be eligible for this scheme please contact your nearest Branch. Details are on the Welcome page.
Please remember that we are all volunteers so not always available but we will return your call as soon as possible.
This lovely gentle old labrador found a good home on our Friends for Life Scheme
We often have some lovely older cats needing loving homes who would be suitable for Friends for Life adoption
